Welcome to Circle Double L Stables Ede & Howard Leeson "As
you enter our gate, we urge you to make yourself We are located 15 miles northwest of Regina, Saskatchewan. Our 240-acre property was purchased in 1992, when we decided to continue to breed our one and only Arabian mare and wanted more suitable pasture. But we get ahead of ourselves; first, the real beginning. The real beginning stems from Ede's dream to be able to look out the window of her home and see her horses enjoying their pasture. As a "city girl" she held that dream in abeyance for many years until we moved to Saskatchewan. There we purchased our first farm (Howard's long standing dream) and our first horse - an Appaloosa (part Arabian) gelding. Pago-will-do was his registered name, and he tolerated and taught us so much. "Pago" lived to be 30 years old, and as he approached his time of departure from this world, Howard surprised Ede with a purebred Arabian mare to ease his passing. She was appropriately named "BLT Sweet Dreams" ("Dreams") - a liver chestnut with all the type and beauty of her Arabian ancestry. Needless to say, we were smitten. Howard began researching her bloodline, and away we went! Other small Arabian horse breeders will understand how this breed can "possess" the normally calm, sensible person and turn them into dedicated, often addicted, seekers of the "perfect" foal from a favorite bloodline. "Dreams" did that to us, but she also caused us to continue to live our dreams. We feel fortunate to be able to do so. Following is a brief pictorial history of our breeding history. DESERT DREAMS ("Dez") was our first foal, and what a treat he was and continues to be. He has personality, plus. He will run free in circles around Howard as they "play" in his pasture, throwing and fetching sticks, and he loves a roll in the mud with each rainfall. Showing horses was not part of our dream; however his great disposition and western pleasure abilities convinced us to show him, and he did not disappoint us. He successfully qualified for the Canadian Nationals (The Royal Red) his first and only time on the show circuit. We found serious showing to be too hard on the horses we raise and, in spite of great trainers, the great people involved and the fun we had that year, we now only show locally to support our club. "Dez" continues to give us great show results and family fun through his foals (see "Desert Shadow", and "Bint Sahra Ahlam").
